Intercultural friendship

Interview with two members of the film workshop, Virág from Hungary and Stefan from Romania.
Tell us a few words about the movie please.
S: We had a meeting on the first day, where we made a brainstorming, which was great. It helped me a lot, because at the film academy we have a plot about writing sscenarios, and I am not very good about that. But together we put a great plot together.
V: As one of the workshop leaders I was very interested in how we are going to this brainstorming. We had no sceneario at all, so we had three days for the story a film. All of us do some acting in it, even Csabi. (laughs)
So, you are familar with the process of making a film, as a student of a film academy. Does this help you?
S: Yes, though we have a different type of hardware. But I just finished my first year at the academy, so we must turn back to this question later on.
What the movie has to do with interculturality?
V: You will see. (Typical LSA answer – Tompi) We wanted to make a positive film about people who are happy with intercultural friendships. They may don’t exactly understand each other perfectly, but they can cooperate pretty well. Just like LSA.
Do you meet interculturallity in your everyday life?
S: Yes, there are two directors at our school who are not Romanian, a Hungarian and a Macedonian person. I can work with both of them very well though then Macedonian speaks very bad Romanian, so it takes more time, but this never was such a big problem.
V: It seems that all my life is an intercultural experience, since I am travelling between both nations, I mean from Slovakia to Hungary and back. I am working with young people from many countries, we do projects together, also to show that interculturallity can be inspiring.
Do you like movies about intercultural problems?
S: There are so many situations about this topic and xenophbia as well. It could go on and on endendlessly, because there as many, as many nations, and each of them has it’s own problem. Some of them are really good, for example Crash, wich is one of my favourite movies.
Are you going to continue filming?
V: I am always trying something new in my life, and I really liked filming so maybe I would join to the film workshop again. Or to the acting workshop, which is not so new, because I was working as an actress earlier.
S: Actually I still do some acting, because I am working as a clinic animator. I dress up as a clown, and we are making games and origami with little kids in a hospital.
